The London Marathon is an absolutely terrific event. One of the very best marathons in the world, with an incredible atmosphere. The one thing it can be accused of lacking, however, is an especially scenic course.

That’s because the 42.2km route spends the vast majority of its time winding around Greenwich, Shadwell and Canary Wharf, before sprinting through the most impressive parts of central London in the final few kilometres when you’re too knackered to take in the sights anyway.

Fortunately there is one London race that puts those landmarks front and centre with its route: the London Landmarks Half Marathon. The event launched in 2018 and has quickly established itself as one of the best half marathons in the UK, largely thanks to the landmark-laden route, which is set entirely in central London between Westminster and the Tower of London.
