THE LLHM 2026 CITY SELFIE CHALLENGE
Make the most of your London Landmarks Half Marathon weekend and explore the energy, character and hidden corners of the City of London with the LLHM 2026 City Selfie Challenge.
Whether you’re taking part, supporting, or soaking up the atmosphere, this is your chance to enjoy the whole weekend in London and have some fun while you’re at it.
WHAT IS THE CITY SELFIE CHALLENGE?
Across race weekend, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April 2026 - we’re challenging you and your friends, family and supporters to:
• Take a creative selfie in front of the iconic City of London Dragons guarding the gateways to the Square Mile - there are 14 in total, and while you only need one for your entry, we’d love you to spot as many as you can along the way
• Strike your most creative, fun or imaginative pose in front of the Dragons
• Snap a selfie or group photo
• Share it on social media using #CitySelfieChallenge and #LLHM
The prize will be awarded for the most creative selfie, rather than for collecting all 14 Dragons. The winning entry will receive two free places in the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2027.
MAKE A WEEKEND OF IT
LLHM is more than just race day. With so much history packed into one square mile, the City of London is the perfect place to explore before and after the big run.
Arriving on Saturday? Start collecting selfies early.
Running on Sunday? Celebrate afterwards with a well-earned wander.
Supporting friends or family? You can take part too - no running required.
The challenge is open to everyone, so bring your cheer squad along and turn race weekend into a shared experience.
OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF LONDON
We’re proud to partner with the City of London, a place where Roman history, medieval streets and modern skyscrapers sit side by side.
The City Dragons are one of its most recognisable symbols - and a perfect way to connect runners and supporters with the stories behind the streets they’ll be running through.
FUN FACTS: MEET THE CITY DRAGONS
• There are 14 dragon statues marking the historic boundary of the City of London.
• They stand guard at key entrances to the Square Mile.
• The dragons hold red shields bearing the Cross of St George, symbolising protection and the City’s independence.
• Dragons replaced earlier griffin statues in the 1960s and have been watching over the City ever since.
Each dragon is slightly different, which makes collecting selfies with more than one even more fun.
WHERE CAN YOU FIND THEM?
Keep an eye out near major gateways into the City, including:
• Along main roads leading into the Square Mile
• Close to bridges and historic boundaries
• Near well-known City landmarks you may already be visiting
Tip: if you spot one dragon, there’s often another not too far away.
GET CREATIVE
This is your chance to have fun with it. We’re looking for selfies that are:
• Playful and imaginative
• Shared with friends, family or fellow runners
• Cleverly posed with the dragons
• Full of race weekend energy
Solo shots, group selfies, supporter photos - it all counts.
