It was announced today that the London Landmarks Half Marathon (LLHM), organised by baby charity, Tommy’s has been shortlisted in the BT Sport Industry Awards 2019.

After a hugely successful inaugural edition of the London Landmarks Half Marathon in 2018, the event, has been shortlisted in the Active Award category, which recognises organisations or events that have driven participants or a community to start, maintain or increase physical activity.

Race Director Lia Fyles reacted to the announcement: “The BT Sport Industry Awards are the largest commercial sports awards in the world and we are thrilled that the LLHM, a charity event has been shortlisted for the Active Award against such a powerful line up of other organisations.

“After identifying a gap in the market for a Central London half marathon, we couldn’t have been prouder to deliver an event which received such outstanding feedback as well as getting 10,000 people active and raising £4.98m for charity. After already winning a Third Sector Award for Best Fundraising Event, we hope that the judges agree that LLHM also deserves to be recognised by the sport sector for delivering a world class sporting event in year one.

“With the 2019 edition of LLHM just around the corner we are hoping to deliver another exceptional event, hit our £6m fundraising target, and get even more people active with over 13,000 runners tackling the course on Sunday 24th March.”

The 2019 edition of LLHM will again see runners weaving through the Capital’s most famous landmarks as well as some of the more quirky and hidden ones. The LLHM route will unearth hidden gems through route signage and historically themed activations making the event a real celebration of London’s rich history. With charities being at the forefront of the event, they will ensure a buzzing atmosphere along the route, with over 180 cheer stations giving runners an extra boost. This year’s fundraising target is £6 million.
