From March 2018, people will be pounding the pavements of London to raise over £4m for Tommy's and charities of all kinds in the London Landmarks Half Marathon. The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a brand new, closed road central London run. It is the only half marathon to go through both the City of London and City of Westminster and the first event will take place on the 25th March 2018.

Pre-registration for the event, which allows members of the public to be the first to hear when registration opens, hit a staggering 5,700 overnight – a clear indicator of the huge buzz around the London Landmarks Half Marathon.

The excitement is already spreading through the media, with the Evening Standard penning a fantastic piece highlighting the unique experience the event will offer runners.

From cultural landmarks to the city’s hidden quirky secrets, runners will get to explore the capital on a route like no other!

10,000 runners will start on Pall Mall, finish by Downing Street and have fabulous views of London’s most iconic landmarks including Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, the Gherkin, the Shard, the Tower of London and the London Eye.

The event is not your average half marathon! It will celebrate London’s wonderful culture and heritage and the route will expose runners and spectators to London’s ‘quirky & hidden’ secrets. The event will also deliver a pan-London community engagement programme and involve London wide schools, boroughs, community groups, cultural organisations, sports clubs and businesses in developing the event and on the day.

Tommy’s has spent 18 months creating this route and is delighted to be launching this exciting new event with the support of Westminster City council and the City of London Corporation.

Lia Bowman, Director at the London Landmarks Half Marathon commented,

“We are so excited to bring this new event to our capital and have no doubt it will be one of the best mass participation experiences in the UK. The event has been in development for over two years and runners can expect to be delighted with many surprises along the route! We want to make sure we keep them will entertained throughout their 13.1 mile challenge and make it a thoroughly enjoyable experience.”

Jane Brewin, Chief Executive at Tommy’s commented

“We are looking forward to working with schools and local communities to make the London Landmarks Half Marathon a day to remember in London’s annual calendar. This wonderful city will have the opportunity to showcase its fascinating history, vibrant culture and its amazing people all joining forces to raise millions of pounds for good causes and encouraging people to get fit and healthy too. We hope lots of people across London will take up the challenge.”
